As a show of solidarity and support to the industry's response to children in crisis, we are welcoming volunteers to come alongside and help make this event successful. Industry volunteers will be participating in the following areas: Volunteer!
Callers: Required to call up registered runners in advance of the event and follow up to make sure they have all the required information on the race. We would also like to use the opportunity to ask runners if they are interested in using the race to do fundraising, while educating them more on what Mission 500 does. We require 6 volunteers for this and it would entail making approximately 100 calls each during a period of 30 days prior to the Security 5K — equivalent to about 4 calls per day.
Mission 500 booth staff: Help to sign-up runners by filling in credit card and waiver forms. This only takes place on the first day of ISC West (April 5, 2017). We may be able to get a team of volunteers which means we can divide in shifts: we require 2 full time people or 8 people each working a 2 hour shift during runner registration.
Bag stuffers: Help to prepare the race bags the day before the race, inserting water bottles and other promotional material. 4 people are required to help with this. It will take place on April 4, 2017 between 2-4 pm.
Race Registration Staff: Bright and cheerful people are needed to register runners and hand out race bibs and timing tags on race day. Volunteers will receive training the afternoon before the event. This will involve being on site at 6.30 am on race day, and will entail about an hour of work. We require 4 - 6 people for this.
Cheerleaders: Required during the race to hold up signs, applaud and encourage runners—a vital role to play in making the event fun! We require at least 20 volunteers who would arrive at 7 am on race day and encourage runners before, during and after the race. This is also a great way for "Phantom" runners to participate!
Set-up: Involves setting up banners and decorations on race day at race, and cocktail reception room. This would involve being on site at race at 6 am, and afterwards at 4 pm at cocktail venue. Both entail about an hour of work. We require 4 people for set-up. TO Set-up: Involves setting up banners and decorations on race day at Sunset Park. This would involve being on site at race at 6 am.
If you are able to help, albeit only for a couple of hours on the day of the race, please contact Kat at 305-790-4114
"Another incredible race! Great work organizing the event, and most importantly a significant thank you for bringing together a group of people in the security industry to make a difference in this world, while enjoying team camaraderie and an active lifestyle." Elizabeth Cohen, Anixter
